Jalapeno, White

Description

A jalapeño that goes pale instead of green. The pods emerge a creamy white, hold that colour through most of their life, and only at the very end blush through yellow to red — so a plant in full season looks like nothing else in the garden.

Underneath the novelty it behaves like a proper jalapeño: firm, crisp flesh, that unmistakable jalapeño aroma at every stage, and a clean heat that runs at the top of the normal jalapeño band rather than below it. Do not mistake pale for tame.

The plants are compact and remarkably prolific, cropping until the frost stops them. Superb in pickles and mixed jars, where the white pods are startling, and just as good in salsa, sliced raw, or stuffed.
