Wild chiles

Wild and semi-wild chilies — the small-fruited species and forms that grow without anyone’s help, and from which every cultivated pepper eventually descends.

Expect tiny pods borne upright, heat that arrives fast and fades faster, tough long-lived plants, and germination that can be slow and uneven. They are also among the very best subjects for bonchi, and a well-kept plant can live for decades.
