Description

Fatalii is the chili this whole site is named after. It comes from Central Africa, where chilies brought over from the Americas developed into their own local forms, and it was one of the reasons Fatalii’s chile pepper pages came to life in the first place.

The pods are about 6–9 cm long, wrinkled and pointed, with thin walls, and they ripen from pale green to a bright lemon yellow. The flavour is clean, fruity and citrusy, which makes it a wonderful cooking chili. The bite is another story: when we had it tested years ago it scored 318,000 SHU, less than many modern superhots, yet it is still one of the varieties that actually feels the hottest. Taking a bite is a painful, insane experience.

The plant is easy and gives amazing yields, which makes it our recommended first superhot for beginners. Superb in yellow hot sauces and in anything that loves a citrus note. One of the true favourites of all time.
