The Canario chili pepper, part of the Capsicum pubescens species, is a distinctive and compact plant. It grows medium large as plant and produces eye-catching purple flowers and green, hairy leaves. The fruit of the Canario pepper is unique, turning from green to yellow as it matures, with quite large pod size. The pods are quite hot for Rocoto variety and have a lovely, juicy thick flesh. This perennial is adaptable, thriving in full sun and a range of soil types, from sandy to loamy. It’s a low-maintenance choice, suitable for various gardening projects including container gardening. Surprisingly it can look awesome as a bonsai chili pepper as well!
