Description

A pale baccatum and one of the better-kept secrets in the species. The pods are slim and tapered, roughly 5–7 cm, ripening from light green to a soft creamy ivory, often with a purple blush where the sun catches them. Most growers pick them at the cream stage, which is when they taste best.

The aroma is the reason to bother: bright and citrus-forward, closer to an Aji Lemon than to anything else, with a sweet-tangy finish. That makes it unusually good with fish, and it dries into a pale powder with real character — one of those chilies that earns a permanent place in the spice drawer.

A big, easy-going bush that copes with a range of conditions and keeps producing. Its origin has never been documented — it turns up in the trade from Scandinavia to Australia with a different story attached each time.
