Testanera Chocolate

Description

A superhot from the Italian breeder Drax Diego. The pods emerge almost black, then ripen into a deep chocolate brown — often keeping streaks of black and purple — and wrinkle heavily as they go, so every pod ends up with a texture of its own. The foliage is dark purple, which makes the whole plant worth looking at.

The heat is severe and the flavour behind it is fruity and floral, with the odd trick the family is known for: a numbing quality on the tongue quite unlike an ordinary burn.

Be aware that this is an unstable line — growers report a range of different phenotypes, so pods from a single packet will not all look alike. Around a metre tall, a strong producer, and one for sauces and powder rather than the dinner table.
