Capezzoli di Scimmia

Description

Wild material collected in Bolivia, brought into cultivation in Italy by the late Dr Mario Dadomo — and named, with more accuracy than dignity, “monkey nipples”. The pods are small and round, roughly 2.5–5 cm, each finished with a small teat-like point, standing upright in clusters and ripening green through pale yellow to orange.

They are startlingly juicy — bite one whole and it bursts — with a clean fruity flavour and a heat that lives mostly in the seeds and placenta, so you can moderate it simply by how you cut the pod.

The plant is bushy and well-behaved, carries a heavy crop, and looks good enough to keep on a kitchen windowsill. Excellent fresh, dried, or milled into powder.

Each pack contains approximately 8–10 or more seeds per variety.
