Description

Habanero Mauro Sauro is a red habanero with a name that sounds more like someone’s Italian uncle than a Caribbean chili. The story behind the name is unknown, but the pepper itself is easy to like: wrinkled pods, a little longer than the classic habanero lantern, ripening from green to a bright, glossy red.

The flavour is pure habanero: an intensely fruity, tropical aroma followed by full habanero heat. It is at its best in hot sauces and fresh salsas, and it pairs especially well with mango, pineapple and other tropical fruit.

Give it the long, warm season every habanero wants. Sow early, keep it warm and bright, and grow it in a good-sized pot or a greenhouse in northern conditions.
