Description

Rocoto Peron is a rocoto with a lot more heat than you might expect. The pods are round and thick-fleshed, ripening from green to red, and they smell and taste amazing.

It is a very versatile chili: great fresh, as a powder, and especially as a smoked powder, which brings out real depth of flavour. Like other rocotos it has purple flowers and handles cool weather well, so it does fine even where the garden is not the warmest.

It takes longer to mature than most chilies, but the wait is worth it, as the plants give plenty of pods. A top pick for anyone who loves their chilies hot and does not mind a bit of a challenge.
